Hi 👋🏼 I’m Serge.
Timeline.
Purdue University
2016 - 2020
A Start in Finance
I built a deep understanding of financial analysis, statistical modeling, and data science here. I also did a lot of soul searching in college, tried a lot of new things and built many long lasting friendships that I still keep tabs on to this day.

Covid Summer
2020
We're Pivoting To... Programming?
I had all the free time in the world, no job, and a daily symphony of dog-day cicadas asking me what I was going to do with my life. I figured I at least owed it to myself to learn what it would take to build out my ideas – because what if one of them is good? That summer I started learning to program.

Financial Tech Consulting
2021 - 2022
The First Job
If you ask me it was sheer dumb luck, I somehow manged to convince a Chicago based consultancy that I knew enough about computer science to work as a Financial Tech "Software Engineer". I spent the next 2 years learning TypeScript, React, HTML, Tailwindcss, type-systems, and Vim.

University of Illinois (UIUC)
2023 - 2025
Computer Science
If you thought me getting hired as a Financial Tech Software Engineer was a miracle, well... surprise! In 2023 I was admitted to the University of Illinois as a graduate computer science student, I was going to study Linux, operating systems, cuda kernels, AI, databases, and embedded systems full time!

Today
2026
Yeah, I know... It's Bad
The AI apocalypse seems to be upon us, lot's of people will probably be adversely impacted by this change. While I don't know what the future holds, I do know that there is no way the likes of AI could every engineer a system as complex as Linux, or the next MacOS or Windows; whether the world cares to admit it or not, it will always need software engineers.
